Our story
Aurea Pallacanestro Sassari was founded in 2016 by a group of young basketball players from the city's top youth teams, eager to bring regional basketball back into the fold after a decade of prosperity.

The Beginnings
The first affiliation and registration to the Promotion championship arrived in 2018, abruptly interrupted by the pandemic in the middle of the season, but which saw the nerodorati close the championship in second place ahead of important and historic realities of island basketball
The growth
From here on, Aurea's path has seen a gradual and constant growth in both sport and the club, with the debut in the playoffs thanks to the second place achieved in the 2021/22 season and the debut in the Final 4 of 2022/23.

2023/24: The turning point
However, it is with the project launched in 2023/24 that the club takes a big step forward: with the appointment of Carlo Basoli, born in 1997 and outgoing captain of Sant'Orsola Sassari, as Technical Manager, eager for new challenges after an excellent career at the regional level.
With Basoli came the Langiu brothers and other top-level players in the Sardinian championships, who embraced the Aurea project by competing in the DR2 championship (formerly Promozione), dominating it until the unfortunate final epilogue, where the ambitions of final victory were dashed by the Argentinians from Arzachena in the final act of the championship.
The present
After an unforgettable 2024/25 season, Aurea advances to Serie C, fueled by the excitement of a historic run. Starting in fifth place in the regular season, the team overturned all odds in the playoffs: first, eliminating Demones Ozieri, who dominated the regular season, in the semifinals, and then clinching the title in the final against Miners Carbonia, the league's second-place team. This triumph secured Aurea promotion to Serie C and, more importantly, the young club's first title.
To face the new category, the club has chosen to keep the backbone of the team that was the protagonist of the promotion, while at the same time rejuvenating the roster to face the challenge with freshness and ambition.

The future
Alongside its Serie C debut, the 2025/26 season marks another milestone for the Aurea project: the registration, for the first time under its own name, of an Under 19 Gold team.
Entrusted to coach Giampaolo Doro, the team marks the club's official entry into the youth leagues, paving the way for the construction of a solid and long-lasting youth system. Added to this is the renewed partnership with Sant'Orsola Team 98, a historic local team, which further consolidates the club's growth and integration into the local basketball scene.
